Get Down on the Bathroom Floor

The birth pool is a beautiful innovation. We are weightless, we are water. We’ve set the stage in the living room: the candles, the fairy lights, the flowers and the music. The birth team surrounds the pool, the birther at the center. The photographer captures the serene scene. But sometimes it’s too much of a stage. Sometimes we need to go inward, shut ourselves in the dark bathroom. Kick everyone out. Close our eyes. Just listen to the shower run. Sometimes we need to go into the dark depths of this transformative ego death. Sometimes we need to feel the cold bathroom tile on our hands and legs. We need to squat, and we will release, in that little cave where we are so accustomed to releasing. Don’t worry, we cleaned the bathroom for you. Don’t worry, your baby won’t hit the floor. Don’t worry, your baby doesn’t expect a water birth with twinkle lights. Go in, shut the door, get down on the bathroom floor.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
